Day 2 Allotment

I'm carrying on with the patchwork project today. The next stage is sewing the pieces together into strips long enough to fit across the width of the cushions.

Then the strips are ironed to make all the seams face the same way.

Today I walked Jasper the usual 'round the block' which takes us past the allotments. My husband Jim started these allotments several years ago from an area of unused land under the bypass owned by Arthur John and his family who loaned the land free of rent. Sheila and I have a raised bed there which features a yellow rose dedicated to her dog Alfie who died last year. We walked through the site to see how it was looking. I need to remove the two fuschia plants as they have grown too large and replace them with more roses. I should be working there today as the weather is so nice. Below is the raised bed in bloom last year and below that Alfie's rose 'Simply the Best'.

There are two more raised beds unused if anyone knows an elderly or infirm person who would like one. They are suitable for wheelchair users as there is paved access all around.

Cowbridge Community Allotments have a FB page if you are interested.

I spent rather too much time today playing Scrabble online. I have about twenty games going at any one time with people from all over the world. I tell myself that it keeps the 'little grey cells' active. Whatever! Anyway here is a screen shot from a current game - it is my turn to play - any ideas?

Random Picture
And finally today's random picture which needs a little explanation. This is a mannequin which my granddaughter Joni and I rescued out of a skip. After its use as a plaything had worn off it was pressed into use as a prop on the set of Alan Aykebourne's 'Round and Round the Garden' which CADS performed in 2014. We needed a statue for the garden - but, it had to be a nude male so I had to adapt the shapely female.  Tomorrow I will reveal how that worked out.

Stay home! Stay calm! Stay happy!
