One of my favourite flowers is the orchid. I have a row of them on my window sill and there are always several in flower. Sheila gave me one for Christmas and it is still looking good.
I remember the very first time I saw orchids - it was at the Chelsea Flower Show in 1963. We lived in Kingston upon Thames at that time and I took my daughter Claire who was aged four and we went on the Friday. Nothing like the crowds of today - we walked unhindered along the isles in the marquee and rounding a corner was confronted by an array of orchids - spectacular! Of course you can get them in every supermarket now but they were a rarity back then.
Dutch
Spent a little time on this but my mind wasn't on it. I kept thinking of the Kitkat in the fridge.
Ik ben Brenda Grove, Ik woon in Cowbridge, Ik spreek Engels, Zullen we voor morgen afspreken?
I don't think I'm making much progress. So I play a few games of 'eggs' instead. I'm a winner!
I found two packets of bread mix in the cupboard. They are well past their 'use by date'. I wondered if they would still be viable so fetched the bread-maker out of the garage. It hasn't been used since I moved and needed a good clean. Then I had to search for the operating instructions because I am a woman and I don't try to operate machinery without having some idea of what I am doing. I found those, surprisingly in the correct place. All of this exhausted me so I left it to do tomorrow.
I took Jasper a walk to the allotment as I understood that working on one's allotment counts as exercise. There were several other folk there digging away but we were all able to keep a large distance from each other. I needed to remove plants that had grown too large like the fuschias and plant a couple of roses. Sheila, who came with us found that the water pumps were not working. Strange, after all the rain we have had. We then continued 'round the block' and home.

My husband, Jim died June 30th 2015 and was much beloved by his four grandchildren. The two living in Antwerp, Bo and Tess, aged at the time 11 and 8 didn't get to see him as often as the other two in Wales so I made them each a cushion out of one of Jim's shirts. I printed a photo of him on some fabric with a message "This is a shirt I used to wear, whenever you hold it know I am there. Love from Opa Jim XXX" and In the original shirt pocket is a knitted replica of Jim.
Tot Ziens! Stay home! Stay Safe!
