Day 108 Responsibility

Notes for new readers - as this is a diary the first entry is the last, so you get to know 'who done it' before the crime is committed! This is a pain but can't be helped. After a week of entries the scrolling will stop and if you want to venture further click on 'OLDER POSTS' and read until you get to the first entry 'The Day Before Day 1.

Olivia, the dog walker rang me this morning. She sounds very suitable. She has insurance, is in her twenties and has some dog-care qualifications. We are meeting up tomorrow to see how we get on.
It looks like some more scrubs are going to be available for sewing soon. I had better get some of my ironing done before I start on more sewing as I won't have time later.
I carried on sorting out the kitchen. I have covered the main wood block work surface with a sheet of brightly coloured plastic. I found several rolls of this stuff put out for the garbage down the High Street last year and knew it would come in useful. I like the wooden work tops but this one has become discoloured with use and needed cheering up. I like it now and it will be easy to wipe down.

I am just about to watch the film of the play by JB Prieistley -An Inspector Calls. A compelling story but I think the best production I have seen was the stage version with Kenneth Cranham. Apart from the acting the set was fantastic. We produced the play in CADS some years ago and I made the ladies costumes.

People face being stung with an extra income tax bill if they have coronavirus tests for work, it was revealed today.

New Inland Revenue guidance claims it amounts to a taxable “benefit in kind” if an employer pays for coronavirus testing.

This means that employees will pay Income Tax on each test – and with some workers requiring regular testing, the bills could mount up.
The warning was sounded by Conservative MP Mel Stride, chair of the Treasury Committee, who today wrote to Chancellor Rishi Sunak calling for the guidance to be dropped as unfair and a health hazard.
“Many employees, especially healthcare and hospitality workers, are required to undergo regular coronavirus testing,” said Mr Stride. “This new guidance is unclear and will worry a large number of workers.

Yours truly (in the centre) in The Old Lady Shows Her Medals - a One Act play by JM Barrie. I only get acting parts when they are scraping the barrel and I am happy with that. The other two ladies are Pat Harrison and Rosalie Maddy.
