Day 107 Sweet Nothings

Notes for new readers - as this is a diary the first entry is the last, so you get to know 'who done it' before the crime is committed! This is a pain but can't be helped. After a week of entries the scrolling will stop and if you want to venture further click on 'OLDER POSTS' and read until you get to the first entry 'The Day Before Day 1.
Paper work this morning and sorting out the kitchen.

When Joni rang she asked if I had started Jasper on his diet yet and suggested that I get a dog walker in to give him extra walks to help him lose weight. I have someone ringing me tomorrow.
Went shopping in Marks & Spencer this evening and bought two pairs of trousers.
Filled in a survey today online about how I have been feeling during lockdown. I realised that I have not been depressed or sad during the last three months or so. Of course, I am one of the lucky ones: I live in a nice town  with pleasant neighbours and have managed a daily walk with Jasper and sometimes Sheila and Maureen whilst keeping to the distancing rules. I could have had my shopping done and delivered by volunteers but chose to do it myself because it was easy and relatively safe to do so. Because I am resourceful I have not been bored but kept myself occupied with various projects including getting involved with some others making scrubs for local care homes. I have missed seeing my family as regularly as usual but we have kept in contact by phone, Facetime and email. In fact, I have spoken to friends more by phone than usual during lockdown.
I think what I have missed the most is my exercise class on a Wednesday morning followed by the chat at Costa coffee.

Snippet from the News
Boris Johnson is under fire after appearing to blame care home owners for the huge death toll from coronavirus in their properties.
“We discovered too many care homes didn't really follow the procedures in the way that they could have,” the prime minister claimed – after being asked about the reasons for almost 20,000 fatalities.
But Vic Rayner, executive director of the National Care Forum, said: “Care providers have moved to adopt these new procedures consistently, at pace and with integrity.”

And Mike Padgham, head of the Independent Care Group (ICG), said: “We should not be getting into the blame game and it is wrong to criticise care and nursing homes at this time.”
More than half of care homes in England have been hit by Covid-19, according to official estimates, with one in five residents infected and 7 per cent of staff.
Anger has grown over the decision to discharge 25,000 hospital patients who had not been tested, fuelled by health secretary Matt Hancock’s notorious claim to have “thrown a protective ring” around them.
But, the prime minister pointed to poor practices, saying: “One of the things the crisis has shown is we need to think about how we organise our social care package better and how we make sure we look after people better who are in social care.

“We discovered too many care homes didn't really follow the procedures in the way that they could have but we're learning lessons the whole time.
