Day 35 Water Dog

Notes for new readers - as this is a diary the first entry is the last, so you get to know 'who done it' before the crime is committed! This is a pain but can't be helped. After a week of entries the scrolling will stop and if you want to venture further click on 'OLDER POSTS' and read until you get to the first entry 'The Day Before Day 1

Up early this morning and down to the Farmer's Market at 9.00 sharp. I bought two nice looking tomato plants for the allotment bed. I also got some olives, chicken thighs for tomorrows lunch and two raspberry Portuguese Tarts.
Then I did a full shop in Filco.
Later my neighbour rang to say that she felt unwell. She had some virus symptoms and had rung 111 for advice. I asked if she needed anything and to keep me posted.
She also remarked that she thought she had seen a rat in the garden. I told her that I had seen one also and was in the process of removing the bird feeders as that is probably the cause of the problem. The birds spill some of the food on the ground from the feeders and it attracts mice and rats. I spent the afternoon tidying up the garden and left a message for a rat catcher to call. I told Jasper that he wasn't doing his job properly as 'in house' rat catcher but he wasn't bothered. I noticed later that a neighbours cat was keeping watch over the garden maybe he will be more successful.
I am disappointed that I shall have to stop feeding the birds for a while as they give me such pleasure especially in these times of confinement but, like everything else, it can't be helped.

More than 20,000 people have now died with coronavirus in UK hospitals, the Department of Health has announced.
The latest figures showed a total of 20,319 deaths in the UK, up by 813 on the previous day.
At the government's daily briefing, the home secretary described the figure as a "tragic and terrible milestone".
It is 51 days since the first virus-related death was announced in the UK.

Video of Rufus Whippet playing in the pool at Moulin du Clout, Avergne. Only some whippets like the water and Rufus did, he liked to cool off after a walk on a hot day.

Here is another 'Barbie' cake that I made for Joni's tenth birthday, I had the task of making a birthday cake in the shape of Merida, heroine of the Disney film Brave. Jim made the bow and quiver full of arrows. She had a party with her friends in an archery and hawking centre.
P.S. You can usually reattach the legs after the cake is eaten.

TOT ZIENS! Eat Portuguese Egg Tarts! They are delicious!
