I am a great enthusiast for Facebook. I know it isn't everyone's 'cup of tea' but I find it is a great way of keeping up with far flung family and friends. I have contacts in Australia, New Zealand, America, France, Spain and Belgium as well as in the UK and I expect many of you have too.
Over my breakfast I check out the latest posts. A lot of it is political stuff, especially now, but besides that I have news from various groups I have joined, some friends post jokes, quizzes and various photos. Contacts tell me about their travels, send me recipes and advice - the list is endless. I enjoy reading it all.
Below a poem for our times.
Today I worked again the garden. I fixed a mirror onto the fence that I found put out for the garbage in the High Street some months ago. 'Waste not, want not.' I am gradually getting the depredations of winter sorted. Hopefully I will be able to buy some plants soon to brighten it all up. I don't think there is much chance of me getting my garage roof done in the next few weeks which will give the Montana chance to flower before I have to trim it back to enable the work to the roof to be done.
I had a leaflet put through the door from Cowbridge Coronavirus Community Volunteers giving me a list of people ready to help me if I need, shopping etc. How nice! I don't think I shall need them but I appreciate the offer and applaud them. Talking of which did any of you join in the clapping for the NHS and other hard workers last night. I am sorry to say that I didn't. I was aware of the plan but thought it unlikely that anyone else in my street would do it so stayed put. Maureen, my next door neighbour said several people did.
Random Photo
This is a bit bizarre. When he lived in Bristol my son, Lincoln used to have 'Hat parties' where the guests were required to turn up in headgear weird and wonderful. Jim, made this contraption resembling his head having been attacked with an axe. It all looked very real and rather gruesome. You can see why he was so good at making theatrical props!
Reader Input
At the end of each post there is a facility for readers to make comments (if they wish!). Just click on the word comments and a space will open up for the purpose. I have extended the list of people who now have the link to this blog so if anyone does make a comment it may be a name you don't recognise.
Apart from my French blog, cantalcapers.blogspot.com I also have another blog started on our return from France. underthevirginiacreeper.blogspot.com. You are welcome to look at those also if time hangs heavy. It is essential that you type in the titles exactly as given or they don't work. Best to use 'cut and paste.'
Stay Home, Stay Calm!
