Day 120 Florabunda

Notes for new readers - as this is a diary the first entry is the last, so you get to know 'who done it' before the crime is committed! This is a pain but can't be helped. After a week of entries the scrolling will stop and if you want to venture further click on 'OLDER POSTS' and read until you get to the first entry 'The Day Before Day 1.

This is the kitchen window at Eastgate.
It rained nearly all night long so Sheila didn't need to do any watering today. Checked the beans again and there are a few more than we thought. We picked some blackberries en route and I made a couple of crumbles with some apples.
Lazy day today - well it is Sunday. Played a lot of Scrabble (Lexulous) and had a nice chat with a Betty who comes from Sydney. I also wanted to use the word 'bellend' which apparently is not allowed.
Cut out and prepared some more fabric for masks. Might have some time to make progress with those before I start on the scrubs which I am collecting some time tomorrow.
Window cleaner left his card and he is coming tomorrow.

Snippet from the News
The government has “paused” publishing daily coronavirus statistics for England because of concerns about their accuracy.

The reason for this is because one component of the data – which shows deaths from England – is suspected and thought to be “over-exaggerating” the count.

Academics at the University of East Anglia and the University of Oxford raised the alarm last week and said a methodological problem in the way Public Health England (PHE) gathers the data could be giving false positives.

Effectively, they say that “PHE regularly looks for people on the NHS database who have ever tested positive, and simply checks to see if they are still alive or not”. But it doesn’t take into account whether they have been discharged, or are elderly and might die from other causes.
Scotland and Northern Ireland’s equivalent data uses a 28-day cut-off to get around this problem.
But as a result of the question marks over England, the entire dataset has been suspended.
The overall Office for National Statistics figures, showing “excess deaths” that are released more infrequently and cover England and Wales, will also still continue.

This lady is Florabunda. She was our effort in the Cowbridge Scarecrow display several years ago. Do you remember that? She sat amongst the Mexican Daises in the front garden of 81 Eastgate for a while. The display of scarecrows was not repeated sadly as several other efforts were stolen or abused.
