Notes for new readers - as this is a diary the first entry is the last, so you get to know 'who done it' before the crime is committed! This is a pain but can't be helped. After a week of entries the scrolling will stop and if you want to venture further click on 'OLDER POSTS' and read until you get to the first entry 'The Day Before Day 1.
Busy day today. Jasper's walk with Olivia at 11.00am, Christine coming to cut my hair at 1.30 and the new window cleaner coming - time unspecified.
Housework was called for as Christine, although she would be cutting my hair in the conservatory with the door open, would be walking through the house and she might need to use the cloakroom downstairs. So I set to and did what was needed.
The new window cleaner would need access to the conservatory windows which meant I had to shift the stuff that was in the way which I did and for good measure got the hosepipe out and washed down the decking. Very pleased with myself.
Jasper enjoyed his walk and Olivia reported that he was more relaxed and didn't spend so much time looking behind him to see if I was coming. Progress.
Window cleaner didn't turn up. My guess is he has taken too much on and didn't get round to us. Perhaps Monday.
Juliia messaged to say that more scrubs are ready - I will collect my share on Sunday.
I am pleased with my haircut -
although, of course it will need doing frequently now to keep it in shape.
Snippet from the News
Boris Johnson has held out the prospect of a “significant return to normality” by Christmas as he announced a fresh easing of lockdown restrictions in England – but his roadmap was met with a backlash from business leaders and claims he is making policy “on a wing and prayer”.
After four months of encouraging the public to work from home to help contain the spread of coronavirus, the prime minister said from 1 August the onus would be on employers to decide whether staff could safely come back to the office.
His blueprint could lead to a return for gigs, theatre performances and business conferences in the coming months. A lifting of restrictions on attendance at football matches could happen in October, Johnson said, and it “may conceivably be possible to move away from the social distancing measures” by November.
Johnson said local lockdowns would be implemented quickly where needed, and he unveiled plans to hand local authorities greater powers.

Another antique from the Grove archive. This is Jim and his elder brother Leslie as young boys. The photo is taken in Canada where the family lived at the time. I believe the house behind the boys is their home built by their father and a friend. We looked for it when we visited Timmins but were unsure of the exact location.
TOT ZIENS!
