Day 98 Spider!

Notes for new readers - as this is a diary the first entry is the last, so you get to know 'who done it' before the crime is committed! This is a pain but can't be helped. After a week of entries the scrolling will stop and if you want to venture further click on 'OLDER POSTS' and read until you get to the first entry 'The Day Before Day 1
There was a whacking spider in the bathroom last night. I don't like spiders. Oh, Jim where are you when I need you? Jim used to carefully remove all large insects from my presence and put them outside where they belonged. I showed it to Jasper in desperation and he stuck his nose in whereupon it vanished. Trouble is I don't know where too. Was it behind the vanity unit or into the folds of the discarded jeans on the floor?
Rose early and went to Waitrose for a 'big shop'. Rest of the day chores and playing the new 'Scrabble', Lexulous. It's okay.
Played a board game again with Matthew and Co this evening via Facetime. I came last again. Grandmas are no good at remembering things.

As England prepares to return to pubs, restaurants and cinemas next week, vast numbers of offices around the country will remain empty. And some companies are happy for it to stay that way – which poses a serious problem for multimillion pound skyscraper projects under way in the capital.
London-based Bishopsgate Financial Consulting is one of a growing number of firms that are giving up or downsizing their offices in the wake of the coronavirus pandemic.
“We were planning to move offices. We’d given notice just before the lockdown came in,” says Mike Hampson, chief executive of Bishopsgate. “When we started working remotely, we realised we were working very effectively as we were.”
The move will save the company hundreds of thousands of pounds a year, slicing a quarter off its annual costs. Employees will also benefit financially – with some saving thousands of pounds each in annual commuting bills.

Here is some good news.......anyone thinking of going out for a meal or a drink once lock-down goes away, I would strongly recommend any establishment run by Mitchell and Butler - that is All Bar One, Harvester, Toby, Miller & Carter and a few others.
Judging from posts on the company web sites they are pro remain and very concerned about how Brexit will affect their business and their ability to recruit staff.
My son works for them and he has been treated impeccably throughout this Covid-19 crises. He and all his colleagues have been kept well informed of what is going on and what is expected to happen in the coming weeks, the company are doing everything they can to ensure staff safety whilst abiding by all the government regulations without question.
