Day 95 Happy Birthday Annie

Notes for new readers - as this is a diary the first entry is the last, so you get to know 'who done it' before the crime is committed! This is a pain but can't be helped. After a week of entries the scrolling will stop and if you want to venture further click on 'OLDER POSTS' and read until you get to the first entry 'The Day Before Day 1

A hectic day today socially. Did a bit of tidying up but not as much as I had planned as it was so hot. Then up to Annie's house - or rather the garden in time for coffee to celebrate her birthday. Peter and Jennifer, Lynda and Vince were there and we were joined later by Regine and Christine. I was still there when Annie served the champagne and lunch. It was all very pleasant. I took her the 'Madagascan Palm' that I bought from Cosy Fox. I had to leave at 1.45 to get back home to take Maureen to the Spire for her eye injection. I had looked up the place on Google Maps and thought I knew where we were going but we still got lost, although arrived in time. Jasper and I sat outside in the shade during the appointment. Maureen was pleased as she did not need the injection as her condition had not worsened. Good news. We got lost on the way home also.
After supper I had a Zoom meeting with Annie, Viv and Steve, Andy and Gill and Carl joined us later. Mysteriously I was muted. I assured them that might be a good thing but they couldn't hear that either. I think I've fixed the problem.

Snippet from the News
Society is reopening. The long national hibernation - to quote Prime Minister Boris Johnson - is coming to an end with the biggest lifting of restrictions so far due to take place in England at the start of July.Lockdowns are also being eased in Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland, albeit at slightly different paces. It is a massive moment - and one certainly not without risk. There have been warnings it could lead to a second peak in infections.
Restrictions have to be lifted at some point. The big question is whether the UK is moving too soon.
The number of infections has fallen dramatically.
There are now just over 1,000 new cases a day on average.
That compares with an estimated 100,000 at the peak at the end of March - we don't know the exact figure because there was only limited testing in place.

Huge progress has, therefore, been made. But the number of infections is still significantly higher than in other countries.
