Notes for new readers - as this is a diary the first entry is the last, so you get to know 'who done it' before the crime is committed! This is a pain but can't be helped. After a week of entries the scrolling will stop and if you want to venture further click on 'OLDER POSTS' and read until you get to the first entry 'The Day Before Day 1
Ooops! I went to bed last night without making my entry in this blog. I was so tired. I had been wrestling with the scrub trousers all afternoon (except for dog walk) and evening. The trousers need two buttonholes in the casing to thread the cord through and I had to learn how to do them with my new machine. I found it rather tricky but I am getting there. However, I needed to give up and get some rest before I did something silly that was unrepairable.
Today it is raining as forecast - that means no watering either in the garden or down at the allotment.
No word from Mr Williams about coming to do the garage roof but as it is raining I guess he is not doing it this week. No problem.
I had some dialogue online with the person who sold me the slide viewer - she offered to refund me but I said I would test batteries first. I then had the idea of cleaning the contacts so I found some fine sandpaper and gave them a rub. Voila! The viewer works! When I have finished the scrubs I can start going through the vast collection of Jim's slides and sorting them out.
Another thing - when I logged on this morning I seem to have lost my usual desktop with all the files I might find useful. Where has it gone? No time to sort that now - the scrubs await when I have finished this entry.

WE CAN WORK IT OUT: Matt Hancock said he is “determined” to work out the reasons for Britain’s terrible health inequalities after a report by Public Health England found black and minority ethnic people are at higher risk of dying from the coronavirus than white people (it remains unclear how much of it is down to housing, occupation or other issues). The health secretary denied the report had been held back because of the protests over the police killing of George Floyd, and boldly stated: “Black lives matter.” Labour MP Tulip Siddiq said Hancock had only offered “empty rhetoric”. Another rebuke came from the chairman of the UK Statistics Authority Sir David Norgrove, who sent the health secretary a letter complaining about “inadequate” presentation of testing figures, clearly designed to show “the largest possible number of tests, even at the expense of understanding”.

This is Joni sewing her prom dress last summer. We worked on it together although she did most of the sewing. A picture next time of the finished garment.
