Day 66 The People are Revolting!

Notes for new readers - as this is a diary the first entry is the last, so you get to know 'who done it' before the crime is committed! This is a pain but can't be helped. After a week of entries the scrolling will stop and if you want to venture further click on 'OLDER POSTS' and read until you get to the first entry 'The Day Before Day 1

Another warm and sunny day.
I had hoped that the sewing machine and overlocker would arrive today but as nothing had come by 11.00am I rang up the supplier. I was told that they would arrive direct from Bernina locally in the next 48 hours. Nothing turned up today so I hope it will be tomorrow.
I did housework and ironing then got on with my knitting.
I think I can say that the piano practice has gone out of the window. I am trying to find room for the keyboard elsewhere in the house so that if I want to get on with it at anytime I have not got to set it up first. I need a bigger house!
I haven't heard anything from Mr Williams either but the weather is set to remain fair for the rest of the week.
Nothing on TV - I shall have to watch DVD's. Actually tonight is Series 3 Episode 1 of A House Through Time, this time in Bristol and with that dishy presenter, David Olusoga. I will watch that.

A government minister has resigned and nearly 40 Conservative MPs, including the former attorney general Jeremy Wright, as well as the Scottish Tory leader Jackson Carlaw, have called for Dominic Cummings to go, as pressure continues to mount on the top adviser to resign. The junior Scottish minister, Douglas Ross resigned from the government over its continued support for Cummings. Ross said the way that Cummings had interpreted the lockdown rules was at odds with the vast majority of the public who followed them. The prime minister’s key aide was defended this morning by the Cabinet Office minister Michael Gove and at the daily press briefing by the health secretary Matt Hancock, who maintained his explanation had shown that he acted within the guidelines. A growing number of Tory MPs, however, disagree and have revolted against the government, calling for Cummings to either resign or be sacked.

"A London policeman has said people are using the Dominic Cummings scandal as an excuse to break the coronavirus lockdown rules.
The officer, ’Scott’, told LBC that he does not know what to say to those who are flouting the government’s restrictions when they mention the behaviour of the prime minister’s chief adviser. He said ‘a good half a dozen people’ had told him today that ‘well, government can do what they want’, when asked to follow the guidance to stop the spread of Covid-19.

The policeman explained that he had handed out tickets to people ‘sitting on benches’ in parks – but now cannot see ‘how I can go to bed tonight, knowing that I’ve made people pay fines for breaching lockdown when it seems if you’re powerful and wealthy enough you can just do whatever you want.’ Yesterday it was suggested that more than 14,000 Brits could appeal coronavirus fines.
Scott said that while on duty he has been told by those not social distancing that ‘lockdown’s over now’. It follows five days of intense media pressure around the apparent flouting of ‘stay at home’ restrictions by Mr Cummings"
